Plinky asked me what movie makes me cry.. hmmm… its hard to choose. A lot of movie I've watched makes me cry, especially movie with someone died in the end. Most of my saddest movie list are romantic genre,,but instead of those love thing I pick this movie as the most emotional one.
Seriously, this movie is the most depressing stories. Well, I'm not crying like usual but this movie really get me so hard. This film is based on the novel written by Irish writer, John Boyne, with Holocaust setting. This movie is about a son of Nazi soldier named Bruno whose just moved to new home near the Auschwitz. Bruno always sneaking around his backyard which is the forbidden area and he comes across a fence and on the other side of the fence is a boy in striped pajamas. Bruno and the boy, Shmuel, strike up a friendship without notified the fact about the concentration camp. The most shocking moment is the closing shot of the movie that shows the changing room of used camp clothing, a reminder that the tragedy was not just the deaths of Bruno and Shmuel, but the deaths of millions of people in the Nazi Concentration Camps.
This movie is horrifying yet magnificent. The irony within their friendship is amazing thing. This movie wasn't the most teary one, but its made me so emotional. I never forget the scene when his mother, played by Vera Farmiga (she is awesome in this movie), screaming her son names in the end of the movie. Huffff,,,tragic movie but loved it….
